FrameShift:
Weekly ensemble theatre-making for ages 13–17
Launching May 2026 |Amsterdam Zuid/Amstelveen region
Theatre Lab
The Theatre Lab Approach
FrameShift Theatre Lab is a six-week pilot programme for young people aged 13–17 who want to understand how theatre is made — not just how to perform it — within a small, focused ensemble.
Participants connect, collaborate, and create original work through storytelling, physical practice, and devising. They research, test, and refine ideas together, with structured opportunities to explore performance, directing, movement, design, sound, and media.
Each 90-minute session combines creative freedom with clear guidance and time to reflect on ideas together.
Participants learn how to develop and improve their work, listen to different perspectives, and make decisions as a group — skills that matter far beyond the rehearsal room.
The focus is on thoughtful, collaborative theatre-making, not just putting on a show.

Who is it for?
Theatre Lab is for young people who:

• enjoy working creatively with others
• like developing ideas and shaping them over time
• are curious about how theatre is really made
• want to build confidence through practice and collaboration
• are ready to commit to a shared creative process

No previous experience is needed.
Participants don’t need to arrive as confident performers.
What matters most is curiosity, commitment, and a readiness to learn alongside others.
What You’ll Explore Across Six Weeks
Over six weeks, participants will:

• create their own scenes and ideas from scratch
• try out acting, directing, and shaping stories
• work with movement, voice, and physical theatre
• experiment with sound, design, media, and space
• make creative decisions together
• rehearse and improve their work week by week
• share their final piece with an invited audience
Participants learn how strong performances develop through connection, creativity, consistency, and care.
